Nida Shah: makings and beings of my (p)art
Portfolio containing my artwork created in various mediums
About My Art
I aim to talk about subjective experiences, memories or musings, that I stumble upon. I have an ongoing interest in the universal subject of identity through my own perspective based on previous trauma and experiences of being biracial, moving abroad, enduring family issues, abuse and anorexia. I question how all this has shaped me from the outside and within. The subjective becomes objective in art, since, in my opinion, there is no singular experience in this realm. I consider art to be a tool for sharing them with others. I tend to portray my experiences through my drawing style rather than the composition itself. I developed this style during my period of anorexia due to the changes in visual perception I experienced. I consider my art style to be f r a g m e n t e d. Upon first glance, my compositions might seem abstract, since I tend to leave some s p a c e for interpretation. But, after looking closely, Creatures and Faces appear, which I consider being symbols of my subconscious and all it holds.
